Voters passed a bond measure in 2018 to fund improvements across the entire district, including at Candalaria Elementary School. Bond funding will support more than $2 million in renovations at Candalaria to improve safety and security in the school.

Highlights of the work happening at Candalaria include:
• Sidewalk replacements
• Kitchen improvements
• Music room improvements
• Security improvements to increase visibility of the main entry from the front office
• Seismic improvements

The bond funding will support smaller upgrades and improvements in other areas as well.

The district’s project management team, along with BBL Architects, is currently working through the last stages of the design process to create the final drawings construction contractors will use to improve spaces in our school.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2021 and is expected to be complete early in the fall of 2021.

Thanks to the community’s support of the bond, Candalaria will soon have a safer learning environment with additional support for music.

A list of projects happening at Candalaria can be found on the district website. For more information about bond-funded construction in Salem-Keizer Public Schools, please visit www.salemkeizer.org/projects-status.
