Dear Huskies family,

Bond funding provided some exciting improvements at Candalaria Elementary School, which were completed over the summer!

Thanks to voters around the district who approved the 2018 bond, more than $2 million was invested in improvements at Candalaria. The upgrades we received over the summer helped to increase safety and security in the school, improve the music program space and much more.

Front entry renovations
Candalaria received renovations to the front office to increase visibility of the main entry, which allows office staff to monitor the entrance and provide service to visitors within a secured check-in space before granting them access into the building.

Music room improvements
The music room saw improvements to flooring and acoustics. The acoustic upgrades helped to increase sound control, reducing the sound that leaves the music space and improving the learning environment.

Additional improvements
Other improvements included sidewalk replacements, kitchen improvements to improve lunchtime traffic flow, intercom system upgrades and seismic strengthening.

Information about other schools that received or will receive improvements in the 2018 bond program can be found at salkeiz.k12.or.us/projects-status.

We truly benefit from the bond-funded improvements provided here at Candalaria. Thank you so much for supporting our students, and thank you, voters!

Sincerely,
Principal Jason Gundlach
